- Jack Coombs died at age 88 and he lived in Horseheads, NY.
He graduated from Addison Central School in the class of 1949, and Alfred University in 1957.
He served in the Army, with the 8221st Division in Korea from 1952-1954.
After finishing college he went to work at Corning Inc, Bausch and Lomb, Westinghouse and then back to
Steuben/Corning Inc., retiring in 1993 with 38 years. He recently received his 50-year pin. Jack
loved the game of golf, his TR6, his grandchildren and his church family. He has been a longstanding member of
the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, holding many offices in the church. Jack married Kay
VanDerhoff Coombs in 1957 and they had 4 sons and grandchildren. -- Corning Leader 5/14/2021
- Carol A. [Cummings] Naar died at age 75 and lived in Cameron, NY.
She was born in 1946 in Wellsboro, PA. The family lived in Elmira, NY during Carol’s early years before
moving to Cameron, NY. Her father Warren was a lumberman, owning a local sawmill. Manfred Naar was also a young
lumberman and became acquainted with Carol during his visits toWarren’s sawmill. Carol was a 1964 graduate of
Addison Central High School. She began her work life at Lilliquest Studios in Bath, but always wanted to be
self-employed. She married Manfred Narr in 1965. In the 1980’s she made plans for her next big feat,
Naar’s Store/Restaurant. She had children and grandchildren. -- Corning Leader 4/16/2021
