School History presented by Savona HS Alumni Assoc. [includes some pictures] An 1830 map shows the District No. 1 School, said to be a log cabin, located near the four corners. In 1830, a 2 story, 4 room, new school was built. The old school was torn down and used in local housing. In 1862 there was a village school. A Union school district was organized in 1891. The first graduate was in 1895. In 1931-1932, Savona Central High School on Lamoka Ave, Savona, NY opened. In 1948 the school was updated with an addition. The previous school was torn down and the land used for the current Town Hall, Library, and Fire Dept. The last graduating class from Savona Central High School in Savona, NY was in the Spring of 1992. In the Summer of 1992, Savona and Campbell merged Middle and High Schools and the Savona students went to Campbell-Savona Central High School located in Campbell, NY. The Savona Central High School became the Savona Elementary School in the Fall of 1992. |
